Our Mission
The purpose of the Parent Teacher Organization of Barrington Middle School, Prairie Campus is to promote the welfare of children in the school, home, and community. We strive to bring into closer relationship the home and the school, and to promote understanding and cooperation between parents and teachers.  We initiate and encourage ideas and activities which are in the interest of Barrington Middle School.

The NO-STRESS FUNDRAISER was created by the Prairie PTO to eliminate fundraising throughout the year. Our goal this year is to purchase the remaining Smart Boards needed in the school.   • Barrington area teens, parents, educators, healthcare professionals, and faith-based organizations are joining forces to promote positive mental health and to reduce risk factors associated with common teen stressors. The new coalition is "H.E.R.E. in Barrington". Check out the website www.hereinbarrington.org.

Today's children face a great deal of stress - academic performance, heavy scheduling, high achievement standards, peer pressure and family tension to name just a few. Show your children how to bounce back and THRIVE with coping strategies from one of the nation's foremost experts in pediatric and adolescent medicine.


The District 220 PTO Presidents' Council is proud to announce their 3rd annual All-District Book Read. Please join us for an evening with Dr. Kenneth R. Ginsburg, author of "A Parent’s Guide to Building Resilience in Children and Teens: Giving Your Child Roots and Wings” which focuses on raising resilient children who can deal with stress in an increasingly complex world. Dr. Ginsburg seeks to create strategies to raise resilient children who are capable of dealing with life's difficulties and who learn from personal defeats, while at the same time fostering an understanding of "authentic success". His presentation uses humor, real-life scenarios, and poignant cases in addressing the "7 C's" of resilience. He is also the co-author of "But I'm Almost 13!" and "Less Stress, More Success: A New Approach to Guiding Your Teen Through College Admissions and Beyond".


This event, for parents of children from Preschool through High School, will take place Thursday evening, February 25, at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium at Barrington High School. A very special thank you to the District 220 Educational Foundation for generously underwriting the cost of this presentation.
